"By far the best singing of the evening
was Claire Debono’s sensitive, colorful and gracefully
embellished account of Ilia’s music."
New York Times, Lincoln Centre performance
with Les Arts Florissants
"Claire Debono ....thoroughly charming
....had a masterly control of her vocal line, the words,
and the stage space."
The New York Sun
"The cast's delight is Maltese soprano
Claire Debono as Ilia. Besides cutting a figure that would catch
any prince's eye, she sang with shapely allure. Her warm,
piquant delivery is a fount of Mozartian style, and she
immediately set the opera's tone in her dramatic opening
recitative."
The Star-Ledger (New Jersey)
"...et surtout le colorature de Claire
Debono, d'une pureté exceptionnelle."
ConcertoNet.com
"The finest voice of the evening belonged
to Claire DeBono as Ilia. Hers is a burnished instrument, secure
in upper and lower registers and extremely well–managed in
little details like individual note dynamics and elongated
lyrical line. Her "Se il padre perdei" in Act II was
thrilling."
The New York Sun, Lincoln Centre performance
with Les Arts Florissants
"Claire Debono
...acted nimbly and produced a lovely, focused sound that
conveyed a clear sense of the text"
New York Times
"Claire Debono excels as Barbarina,
producing a consistently glowing legato sound".
The Opera Critic
"Claire
Debono, a versatile, silver-toned soprano from Malta, is
beginning to make headway in Britain’s crowded concert scene"
The Guardian
"It was obvious that the tonal quality and
flow of her voice was exceptional"
The Scotsman
"Keep an eye out for … the versatile Claire
Debono, a Maltese soprano of great focus"."
The Times (of London)
