Simon presents unique new programmes with the exquisite vocal talent Daisy Chute, both in duo and with Camerata Ritmata.
Daisy..... shot to fame with the female vocal quartet All Angels, whose debut album reached the top 10 in the national pop album charts and number 2 in the classical charts, earning a platinum disc, Classical Brit Award nomination and making them the fastest selling début classical group of all time. All Angels were watched by 10 million TV viewers when they sang in front of the Queen at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and have appeared countless times on peak time BBC and ITV. Daisy has sung as soloist at the Wigmore Hall and released a critically acclaimed solo jazz album at the amazing age of 15, championed by Humphrey Lyttelton on Radio 2, and now has several hugely successful albums behind her. She will soon appear as a soloist in a TV special for PBS in the USA, where she will also be touring.
Her voice and style are full of jazz know how, as witnessed by the assured phrasing.....” The late Humphrey Lyttelton, Best of Jazz, BBC Radio 2
"Daisy, like Barbra Streisand, has a fully developed vocal talent at a young age. This girl has the gift of communication". Mark Murphy, jazz singer and six time Grammy nominee
In duo..... Award winning guitarist Simon Thacker joins forces with singing star Daisy Chute to perform jazz and folk influenced classical music from around the world, the great American songbook and classic and contemporary popular song. Their programmes show remarkable emotional range and stylistic diversity for this most communicative of combinations.
Camerata Ritmata..... Combining guitar virtuoso Simon Thacker’s immaculately controlled synthesis of classical, experimental and flamenco guitar techniques with the vocal artistry of Daisy Chute and a top jazz trio, Camerata Ritmata find expression in genre defying programmes of huge variety, from whispered ballads to driving Afro-sambas. Deftly combining the structure and imaginative flair for sound of classical music with the freewheeling joy and creativity of jazz and passion of Latin America and Spain (or anywhere that takes their collective fancy!) the quintet pool their formidable talents into something truly rich and rare, exciting and intoxicating. Music by such varied composers as Billie Holiday, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Led Zeppelin, Chick Corea, Burt Bacharach, Villa-Lobos, Joni Mitchell and Roberto Baden Powell are given the distinctive Camerata Ritmata sound, utilising several combinations of the performers. Details about the other members of Camerata Ritmata and instrumental programmes are here.
